Release Note (External) - Radioplayer v.7.4.0(67) - 15/05/2023

Description

We're improving Radioplayer’s listening experience all the time. In this version, we fixed a number of outstanding bugs and improved performance.

New Features

We implemented the following new features / improvements:

• In App Review: this feature requires the user to leave a feedback about Radioplayer app through the appearance of a native alert.

• Playback Error Feedback: this feature consists of the appearance of a pop-up warning the user that it is temporarily impossible to play a content. This pop-up is characterised by the presence of two buttons: cancel, through which the user decides to not try again, and retry, through which the user can make a new attempt at reproduction.

• New Episodes Localise Key update: thanks to this implementation, notification messages about new episodes available for podcasts that are present in the user favorites section have been improved.

Bug fixed

The release fix the following issues:

• Unable to play podcast after download: RPHELPDESK-1166

• com.radioplayer.mobile.auto.RadioplayerMusicService.onUpdateMetadata: This is a fixed issue which occurred when a multiple content playback on Android 12 and 13 devices was performed by the user.

• App switch stations automatically: RPHELPDESK-1176 RPHELPDESK-1096

• Streams not starting, randomly: RPHELPDESK-1193

• App not starting: RPHELPDESK-1185 RPHELPDESK-1181 RPHELPDESK-1103

Current activities

We are working on the following activities:

1. App not stopping, draining battery RPHELPDESK-1190 RPHELPDESK-1191: we have tested some scenarios and we are going to test other scenarios in order to provide more information about the Radioplayer Battery Usage Test. The checks carried out so far have not revealed any particular problems. It is possible to view the tests below:

• App using more data RPHELPDESK-1182: we have tested a few scenarios from which no particular problems emerged with regard to data consumption by the Radioplayer app. We are aware of a higher data usage by version 7 of Radioplayer on the iOS platform. This is due to the fact that the application downloads all images related to Radio in order to reduce the downloading of the images during CarPlay usage. We are working in order to optimise the consumption. It is possible to view the tests below:

Next steps

We plan to do the following improvements:

• feedback error alert on app start up without connection (only at first launch);

• feedback error alert on app start up during the “Didomi Consent Initialisation” (only at first launch);

• strategise implementation for playback error;

• CarPlay image’s download optimisation on iOS platform.

Includes all minor versions of a major version, e.g. 12.0.0_r41 after major version 12.0.0.
